February 17, 2013 Week

What a crazy, crazy weekend! Morgan and Seth moved in with us after touring around the Rosenort Community for the past 2 weeks! Spent Saturday morning with the youth and class guys. (They played hockey and ordered in pizza.) Next, we stopped at Kelly's folks to borrow their pickup and then off to Kenora! Got there in time to drive on the ice roads before dark. Was an amazing experience for us 3 southerners! (I had only been on them one other time, so yeah, still new for me too!) After supper we headed out on the quads. Well, Seth and I did while Morgan and Kelly did some mechanic work first before joining us! Talk about COLD! 

Sunday, we went to church and had a potluck with the Twin River's Congregation.... Seth found some of his Holdeman relation! lol Then back to the house to stoke up the fire and decide what we wanted to do for the rest of the day. Kelly opted out on a nap, Seth and Morgan went out on the quads, and I did a little snowboard practice. After Kelly got up we all went for hike up a waterfall and thro a tunnel to the railroad tracks that over-look the lake. Was beautiful with the snow softly falling!

Monday, the plan was to go snowboarding and then skating at the Forks. But we had a blizzard! So the guys got in on some real winter weather! Ended up with a foot of snow! Finally headed for home in the late afternoon. Roads where still really snowy and icey but we made it (with the guys praying for their lives, I think! lol) Kelly had to work the night so the guys and I went to the a ball game.

Tuesday, Kelly gave the guys a tour of K-Tec, then we headed out to Winnipeg. Stopped at the Forks, had lunch at Tony Roma's, drove by East Gate, and ran thro the mall before I had to drop them off at the airport! So we had a great weekend with them both and really hope they enjoyed their time too! 

....the rest of the week is a blur of Kelly flying off the Calgary and Montana, sewing, packing, church, etc. And now we are in Florida!! And I have told Kelly I'm not going home until it's nice and warm, so guess we'll be here for a few weeks or maybe months!!

Still Alive!

Just a quick update....

* We had communion last Wednesday night.
* Our friends had a house fire so spent a couple days working over there.
* Seth and Morgan came Friday night and stayed until Tuesday afternoon. I'll tell you more about the weekend later....
* Had a huge blizzard.
* Worked at K-tec.
* Kelly's in Alberta and Montana for the week. So I'm at some friends place.
* 7 girls in Bible Study means there's LOTS of giggling.

Chicken and Taco Salad

Not a lot to write about- just church, church, church. Think we'll have communion Wednesday night! Was hoping it would be Tuesday but guess some thought we needed 2 more council meetings instead of one long one... So we'll be happy and accept that! :) 

We had the ministers over for lunch today. Here's the salad I made for them:

2 chicken breasts, cubed                      ½ cup miracle whip

1 Tbs oil                                                        3 cups chips (Doritos/ Tortilla)

½ cup salsa                                                3 cups shredded lettuce

1 avocado, mashed                                  1 can black beans

¼ - ½  tsp hot pepper sauce                  shredded cheese

½ cup chopped tomato

Stir-fry chicken in oil, reduce heat, add salsa, simmer for 5 minutes. For dressing: stir together salad dressing, avocado, and pepper sauce. Layer and enjoy!

My changes:

·       I marinated the chicken in a southwest marinade and baked in the oven then simmered in salsa just before serving…

·       I added lime juice to the dressing…

·       The black beans I simmered in the seasonings used for the Sonora Sunset Chicken salad…

·       Sliced avocados are a great addition to the salad as well!

This and That

~ Got my talk over with last night! YAY!! Now I can sit back and enjoy everyone else's! 

~ Stopped in at Rosenort church tonight to say a quick "Hey" to Seth and Morgan. Was so AWESOME to see some old friends! (they're here for class)

~ Had a very lazy day today! Laundry and supper and some French were the main things I got done!

~ Pioneer Women's White Chicken Enchiladas are amazing! For sure with home made corn tortillas! :)

~ Chia Tea Latte's are so good on a cold, windy night!

~ French is kind of fun to study, but really hard!

Wishing you all a sound sleep with sweet dreams!! I think I'll work with Kelly on the ambulance tomorrow. Unless I decide to stay home and sew me a dress... I could sleep in then! :)

Getting Things Done

Well... Yesterday I got a dress sewed and I think I'm really gonna like it! It fits {other than the neck whole is a little large, but up here I can where a pullover :)}and it's a new pattern for me! So I'm really feeling on top of the world! lol Think I'll attempt another one today.

We've been have meetings since Sunday so that of coarse means going to church. Plus Kelly's usher so have to be there early to unlock. But they have been very inspiring! I told Kelly I thought I've enjoyed these more than other times, maybe I'm finally growing up?! Last night we heard about giants {as in our struggles/problems} and how that we don't need to be discouraged, if we don't conquer those giants the first time around! Also how God doesn't expect us to live a perfect Christian life, but to do the best we can and to have trust and faith in him to help us. I really needed that one! Seems like so often I make a mistake and then I just make it way worse by thinking how awful I am, and how I'll never be good enough or get it right. When really if I'd just accept that I messed up and that was normal and then get up try again the giant wouldn't be near as big as it seemed! SO I'M GOING TO DO THAT THIS YEAR! :) 

Josh, Christi, and Antonio were here for night last night. Was great to see them! They're on there way to the states, so stopped here for night since we're right on the way. {30 minutes from the border} And you always need a good nights sleep before going to talk to those border folks! lol I'm hoping they stop in again on the way back and maybe I can take Christi to Tara's Shoppe. 

Well I better get to cutting out my dress dress if I want to get it sewed! Have a SUPER day!

I Need to Go Shopping

Heaven's Grocery Store

I was walking down life's highway a long time ago. 

One day I saw a sign that read, "Heaven's Grocery Store".

As I got a little closer the door came open wide, 

and when I came to myself I was standing inside. 

I saw a host of Angels, they were standing everywhere. 

One handed me a blanket and said, "My Child shop with care". 

Everything a Christian needs is in that grocery store, 

and all you can't carry, come back the next day for more.

First, I got some Patience, Love was in the same row. 

Further down was Understanding, needed everywhere you go. 

I got a box or two of Wisdom, a bag or two of Faith, 

I just couldn't miss the Holy Ghost, it was all over the place. 

I stopped to get some Strength and Courage to help me run this race, 

but then my blanket was getting full, and I remembered I needed Grace.

I didn't forget Salvation, which like the others was free, 

so I tried to get enough of that to save both you and me. 

Then I started to the counter to pay my grocery bill, 

for I thought I had everything to do my master's will. 

As I went up the aisle, I saw Prayer and had to put it in, 

for I knew when I stepped outside, I would run right into sin. 

Peace and Joy were plentiful, they were on the last shelf. 

Song and Praises were hanging near, so I just helped myself.

Then I said to the Angel, "How much do I owe"? 

The Angel smiled and said, "Just take them everywhere you go." 

Again, I politely asked "How much do I really owe?" 

The Angel smiled again and said, "My Child, Jesus Paid Your Bill
